This year, most people are going for more practical gifts. And surely one of the most popular ones has been clothes. This is why, we have decided that what a better way to start the year than cleaning up your wardrobe, don’t you think?

If every now and then you ask yourself how to tidy your wardrobe and achieve more space, you are in the right place. Don’t miss these tips to tidy your wardrobe and make room for your clothes.

Take out all your clothes and start from scratch!

We’re going to start from scratch: remove all your clothes and decide what you are keeping and what not. Remember that the clothes you are discarding can be donated or gifted. We can always give it a second life!

After, you can start classifying your clothes and accessories by type and season. This way, you can decide what storage solution adapts best to you and your clothes: rail, shelf or wardrobe. In this example, we show you an ELVARLI solution for a customized open dresser with added shelves and two wardrobes. What do you think? Spacious, right?

If by cleaning up and tidying your wardrobe you realize that you may not have what adapts best to you, you can think about changing it or redoing it from scratch. How would your ideal wardrobe be like?

Make the most of shelves

Having enough shelves for all your clothes does not guarantee tidiness. Because shelves can end up becoming untidy: poorly folded shirts that end up wrinkled, sweaters mixed with trousers, summer t-shirts with winter ones, many unfolded clothes…

This is the time to reorganize and give them a new life and meaning: place them in boxes to tidy different clothes or classify them by type, color or fabric. As you prefer! This is a super practical tip that we can all apply at home without spending money.

If you also have an open wardrobe like this (and with some extra shelves) you can make the most of them to place some decoration that will improve your bedroom or dresser.

Feeling spacious: the mirror tip

Something that cannot be missing in any dresser or wardrobe is a mirror. Because it not only helps us try different styles, it also helps the room look bigger and brighter by reflecting light on its surface.

Of course, there are types when it comes to mirrors. And we can’t help thinking about some of our favorites, such as FREBRO, that adapts to any room taking up almost no space, or such as KNAPPER, that has a rail, perfect for leaving clothes you’ve only worn once or that you’re going to wear the following day.

Seasonal clothes, always at hand

For classifying your clothes, we believe that, among all the methods available, the most practical is to have the clothes you use the most as accessible as possible.

In winter, for example, you can place your knitwear in the closer open shelves, to make them easily accessible, as you probably wear them more often. Thick sweaters can go above or beneath them, according to how often you use them; while you can store summer clothes perfectly folded and classified inside boxes in higher shelves. If you don’t have enough space, we remind you to make the most of the space under the bed and place some storage boxes with lid to store season clothing there.

There's always room for everything, truly!

Once you’ve designed your wardrobe for clothes, it’s time to customize it with organizing baskets and boxes.

For example, you can keep jewelry and hair accessories in small rattan baskets, and store bigger accessories or items, such as blankets, in bigger boxes or baskets.

If, also, you decide to reinvent your wardrobe with us, you will see that ELVARLI shelves are adjustable in height, so it’s super easy to adapt them to something new. Adapt your space to you, not the other way around!

Some help outside the wardrobe

It’s not just about the wardrobe: there are many extras that can be helpful to achieve the space we need and make everything more comfortable.

Both if you have a dressing area as if your wardrobe is in the bedroom, you can always choose a loyal friend such as a footstool or a small storage bench. They are both perfect to help you put your shoes on, store your blankets, cushions, sweaters inside airtight bags… and whatever else you want!

How would you design your dream open wardrobe?
