General Terms and Conditions

What do the guarantees cover?

The scope of the guarantee for each product is described with each product.

Duration of the limited guarantee

Each guarantee lasts for the number of years established for each product starting on the date of delivery of the product to the consumer. Products not included in the specific years will have a standard 90-day guarantee subject to the general conditions set forth in this Guarantee Policy.

What will IKEA do to solve the problem?

IKEA will examine the product to decide if it is covered by the guarantee. If covered, IKEA will decide whether to repair the defective product or replace it with the same or similar product. In such cases, IKEA will be responsible for the repair costs, changes, additional parts, labor and travel, as long as it's possible to repair the items without creating extraordinary expenses. This does not apply in cases where the repair has not been authorized by IKEA. Any defective parts removed during the repair will become the property of IKEA in the event that the customer is no longer interested in them. In the event the item is no longer sold by IKEA or the product has been discontinued, IKEA will provide a replacement of equal value or features. It will be IKEA who determiines what an approriate replacement item is. 

Guarantee Conditions

The guarantees are valid from the moment the consumer (first consumer/purchaser) has the product in his hands, as applicable. It is required to show the invoice, in physical or digital format, as proof of purchase and identification of the holder. In case of warranty redemption (first time and consecutive) the term of this does not produce renewal, the remaining term will be honored in any case, retroactive to the date indicated on the purchase invoice; if the consumer is deprived of the use of the good for causes related to its repair, this time shall be computed as an extension of the term of the legal warranty.

In case of resale or third party purchasers, the guarantee period that accompanies the good does not produce renewal, the remaining period will be honored in any case, retroactive to the date indicated on the purchase invoice of the first consumer or purchaser.

What is not covered by this guarantee?

The guarantees do not apply to products that have been stored or assembled in an incorrect way, used improperly, mistreated, altered or cleaned with incorrect methods or products. The guarantees do not cover natural deterioration, cuts, scratches or damage caused by blows or accidents. The guarantee does not apply if the products have been placed outdoors or in a humid environment or if the products have been used for non-domestic functions (unless specified otherwise).
It does not cover plague damage: Damages caused by isoptera (termites), xylophagous (woodworm) or any other insect that damages the integrity of the furniture. The guarantees do not cover unintentional damage, accidental damage, lost profit, caused to the property or the physical integrity of the consumer.

Care instructions

In order to benefit from these guarantees, you must follow the specific maintenance, use, care and cleaning instructions for each product.

You will find all maintenance instructions inside your product packaging, on our website or you can request them from your IKEA store's customer service.

How does the national, provincial and state legislation apply?

This guarantee provides specific legal rights, and it is complementary to statutory legal rights.

How long does this guarantee last?

The guarantee lasts from two (2) to five (5) years from the moment of the purchase of the apppliance. The original simplified invoice must be shown as proof of the purchase. If any repair service is done during the time of the guarantee, its validity will not be extended for the appliance nor its new components. What does this guarantee cover?

What does the guarantee cover?

The guarantee covers the malfunctions of the appliance provoked by fabrication failures or material failures from the moment of the purchase. This guarantee is applied to domestic use. The exceptions are specified below where the guarantee does not apply. 
 

What appliances does this guarantee cover?

2 year-guarantee for the series LAGAN and TILLREDA.
5-year guarantee is valid for the rest of IKEA kitchen appliances (except LEGAN and TILLREDA).

What appliances does this guarantee cover?

Over this conditions the local guidelines and regulations. The re-stocking is done by IKEA. If the services company repairs or replaces the appliance under de terms of the guarantee, said company will install a new or repaired appliance. The repairment will be made possible. If the appliance is installed in other furniture items the client must uninstall it before the service visit. 
 

Who will do the service?

The services company will do the service according with their operative or services net. 
 

What does not cover this guarantee?

This guarantee is no appliable to products that have been stored or kept incorrectly, haven't used properly or wrongly, that have been altered or modified, or that have been cleaned with products or with methods that are not addecuate. This guarantee is not appliable if it has been put outdoors or at a humid space. This guarantee does not cover incidental or consequential damages. This guarantee will not be applied if the products have been used for the public, saving those cases that the product indicates that is suitable for the public. It does not cover damage caused by pests: Damage caused by isoptera (dry or humid wood termites, subterranean termites or termites), xylophages (woodworm) or any other insect that damaged the integrity of the furniture, the guarantees do not cover intentional nor accidental damages, loss of profit, caused to the property or the consumer's physical integrity. The guarantee is exclusively of domestic use and in the invoice must appear the name of the physical person, excluding the office/business furniture.

Our sofas are rigurously tested to guarantee the quality and durability guarantees, as well as the compliance of the most demanding requirements for domestic use. This is why we can offer a 10 and 25 years guarantee in face of material defects or in its fabrication that covers the structures and the pillows of our sofas. 
 

For how long is the guarantee valid?

The guarantee for sofas, armchairs and footstools has a validity of (10) ten years and (25) years, from the date of its purchase. The original simplified invoice must be shown as proof of the purchase. 

What does this guarantee cover?

This guarantee is only applied to domestic use and cover the material and fabrication defects on: structures and seat and back pillows. 

10 years of guarantee on the following products:

  • All sofas, sofa beds, armchairs and footstools, excluding those of natural fibers, covers and PÖANG cushions.

25 years of guarantee on the following products:

  • STOCKHOLM sofa.

We test our sofas and armachairs 

At IKEA we test all our sofas and armchaiars to make sure that they are longlasting. And we are specially rigurous, so they have many years of guarantee. For example, we put 220 lb on a seat 50.000 times, and weights of 66 lb on the backrest the same amount of times. And we make all of this to make sure that the structures will keep their stability and the pillows their eslasticity and comfort. The guarantees we offer are proof that our sofas and armchairs can endure being used frequently and for a long time, and that are a security for you as a customer. 
 

Care instructions

You must take care of the pillow so they maintain their comfort. They must be fluffed regularly, at least once a month. They also must be alternated, so they pillows that are most used change their place with the ones that aren't used that regularly. 
Tighten the screws of the legs two weeks after its use, and make sure that they stay tight checking it several times a year. 
 

Washable covers

  • Follow the cleaning and maintaiance instructions.
  • Iron them while they are a little humid. 
  • Put the cover when its still humid, is more easy to spread and adapts fastly an adequate form. But it is important that the cover is not too humid when you put it again on the structure. 
 

Leather

  • Vacuum regularly with the soft brush accessory. 
  • Don't put the leather furniture exposed directly to the sun and leave a space of 12" with any heat source to keep the leather from drying. 
  • Don't use detergent to clean it. 
  • White or clear colors leather furniture are sensitive to strong color like wine or coffee. That's why you have to clean it immediately.

What is covered under this limited guarantee?

This warranty applies to all bathroom sinks and faucets. The warranty applies to household use only and covers defects in materials and workmanship on all sinks.

What is not covered by this guarantee?

This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by bumps, accidents or debris in water. Products that have been improperly stored or installed by a non-authorized service provider or by the customer directly or not performed by IKEA, improperly or incorrectly used, altered, or cleaned with improper methods or products not recommended in the item's owner's manual. Pest damage: Damage caused by isoptera (dry or wet wood termites, subterranean termites or termites), xylophagous (woodworm), ants, mice, insects of the Anobidae Family, Lyctidae Family, Cerambiidae Family, wasps, beetles, beetles, stitchworms, or plant or insect pests that damage the integrity of the furniture. What does this guarantee cover?

This guarantee covers defects in workmanship, materials and components of all our mattresses as of the date of purchase at IKEA. This guarantee applies to domestic use only.

What is not covered by this guarantee?

This guarantee is not applicable to mattress toppers and children’s and/or babies' nor sleeper bed mattresses, in these cases, a standard 90-day guarantee applies from the date of purchase.

This guarantee is not applicable to products that have been stores or kept incorrectly, that have been misused or mishandled, altered or modified, or cleaned with inappropriate products or cleaning methods. This guarantee does not cover wear and tear, cuts, scratches or damage caused by impact or accidents. This guarantee does not apply if the product has been placed outdoors or in a humid environment. This guarantee does not cover consequential or incidental damages. This guarantee does not apply if the products have been used for public use, except in those cases when the product specifies that it is suitable for public use.
Pest damage is not covered: Damage caused by isopters (termites), xylophagous (woodworm) or any other insect that damages the integrity of the furniture, guarantees do not cover unintentional or accidental damage, loss of profit, to property or to the physical integrity of the consumer. The guarantee is for domestic use only and the invoice must include the name of a natural person, excluding office/business furniture.

Before using it for the first time

At the beginning your new mattress can seem a bit hard. Let a month go for your body to get used to the mattress and for the mattress to get used to your body.
Rolled up mattresses recover their shape after 3-4 days of use. All new materials have their own particular smell, that disappears gradually. Airing and vacuuming of the mattress will help to get rid of the smell.
For a better comfort, you need the right pillow. Make sure you have a pillow that adapts to you and your new mattress.

Care and cleaning

Complement the mattress with a mattress protector or a mattress topper. It will make it more hygienic as it is easier to remove and clean. Some mattresses and mattress pads have a washable cover, read the label that you can find inside the cover for more information. Make sure that the zip is closed when washing the cover. Vacuuming the mattress helps to get rid of dust and mites. Use upholstery soap to get rid of stains.
Read closely the characteristics of your mattress, if it can be turned over, we recommend you turn it every three months (leaving the feet part and the head part and vice versa). This way you guarantee a more homogeneous wear and helps to prolong comfort.
Do not bend the mattress. You could damage the springs and the inside materials.
Even the best mattresses lose comfort over time and all mattresses accumulate dust and mites over the years.
This guarantee offers you specific legal rights, additional to the statutory legal rights.

89 nights to change policy

It is important for us that you sleep well on your new mattress. If you discover that it doesn't completely satisfy you, after waiting one month for the body to get used to the mattress, bring us the new mattress and try a new one.
You have 89 nights to sleep on it!
*Except mattress toppers and children’s mattresses.
In order to change the mattress, it must not show any signs of stains or dirt. No money refund will be made on used or opened mattresses.

GODMORGON bathroom furniture must be secured to the wall. Make sure that the walls of your bathroom support the weight of the furniture, as an incorrect installation can cause injury or damage. If you're not sure about the installation, contact a professional. As wall materials can be different, anchoring screws are not included. If you want information about the most suitable screwing system, contact a specialist retailer. Follow the assembly, installation and care instructions carefully.

Bathroom sinks and faucets

The guarantee for IKEA bathroom washbasins and taps is valid during ten (10) years from the date of purchase. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase.

What is covered by this guarantee?

This guarantee is valid for all bathroom sinks, including water taps and faucets from IKEA. The guarantee only applies to domestic use and covers all defects of materials and manufacture of all wash-basins and faucets. Our products have been tested to comply with international standards and only the best materials are used to ensure our 10 year guarantee compromise.

What is not covered by this guarantee?

This guarantee does not apply to worn out for normal use, cuts or scratches, or damage caused by incidents, accidents or water waste. It doesn't cover the filter/aerator, that must be cleaned regularly and replaced in case of being worn out.

Bathroom sinks must be secured to the wall. Make sure that the walls of your bathroom support the weight of the furniture, as an incorrect installation can cause injury or damage. What does this guarantee cover?

This guarantee is only appliable to domestic use and covers material and fabrication defects on the following parts of the ENHET kitchen system:

Kitchen faucets

For how long is the guarantee valid?

The guarantee of IKEA kitchen taps has a validity of two (2) to ten (10) years and is valid from the date of purchase. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase.

What does this guarantee cover?

This guarantee only applies to a domestic use and covers faults in the materials and manufacturing of all faucets. Our kitchen taps are tested under international standards and we only use very good quality components to ensure the 10 years guarantee.
2 years guarantee for the LAGAN faucet.
10 year guarantee for all IKEA faucets, except LAGAN.

Which products are not covered by this guarantee?

This guarantee does not cover the logical deterioration over time, cuts or scratches, or damages caused by accidents or waste of water. The filter does not apply either, it must be cleaned regularly and replaced once it is worn out.

Appliances

For how long is the guarantee valid?

The guarantee is valid for two (2) to five (5) years from the date of purchase of the appliance. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase. If any service work is carried out during the limited guarantee period, this will not extend the limited guarantee period for the appliance or the new components.

What does this guarantee cover?

The guarantee covers the faults of the kitchen appliance that has been caused by faults in manufacturing or materials from the moment of the purchase. This guarantee it's applicable for domestic use. The exceptions are specified under what is not covered by the guarantee.

Which appliances are covered by this guarantee?

2 year guarantee for the LAGAN and TILLREDA series.
5 year guarantee valid for the rest of the IKEA kitchen appliances (except LAGAN and TILLREDA).

Which appliances are not covered by this guarantee?

No exceptions.

What does IKEA do to solve the problem?

Local guidelines and regularizations are applied to these conditions. The replacement is carried out by IKEA. If the service company repairs or replaces the appliance under the terms of the guarantee, this company will instal the new or repaired appliance. The repair will be carried out whenever possible. If the appliance is installed in any other furniture, the customer has to uninstall it before the service visit.

Who will carry out the service?

The service company will provide the service according to their operative or a service network.

What is not covered by the guarantee?

The guarantees do not apply to products that have been stored or assembled in an incorrect way by an unauthorised services provider or directly by the customer or in cases when it has not been carried out by IKEA, used improperly, mistreated, altered or cleaned with incorrect methods or products. The guarantees do not cover natural deterioration, cuts, scratches or damage caused by blows or accidents. The guarantee does not apply if the products have been placed outdoors or in a humid environment or if the products have been used for non-domestic functions (unless specified otherwise).
It does not cover plague damage: Damages caused by isoptera (termites), xylophagous (woodworm) or any other insect that damages the integrity of the furniture. The guarantees do not cover unintentional damage, accidental damage, lost profit, caused to the property or the physical integrity of the consumer. The guarantee is for domestic use only and the invoice made out in the name of a natural person, excluding office/business furniture.

For how long is the guarantee valid?

The guarantee of the BROR storage solution is valid from the date of the purchase. The invoice must be presented as proof of purchase.

What does not cover this guarantee ?

This guarantee covers the items of the storage solution BROR that have been stored or assembled incorrectly, used in a wrong way, that have been altered or modified, or that have been cleaned with methods or cleaning methods that are inadequate.
This guarantee does not cover normal wearing out of the furniture, cuts, scratches caused due to hits or accidents. The guarantee does not apply if the product has been outdoors or exposed for a long time to the sun or at a wet place, like a bathroom. This guarantee does not cover the damages provoked by consequential or indicental damages. 
 

Care instructions

Tighten the screws two weeks after the first use of the product and make sure that they are well tigthened, checking them several times a year. For all the surfaces: clean it with a damp cloth and soft detergent, then dry it with a dry cloth. 

GUARANTEE POLICY FOR SERVICES

General conditions

What does this guarantee include?

The scope of the guarantee for each kitchen assembly and installation service hired with IKEA.

Duration of the guarantee

Each guarantee lasts 2 years after the completion of the kitchen assembly or installation.

What will IKEA do to solve the problem?

KEA will examine the kitchen assembly or installation service to decide if it is under guarantee. If so, IKEA will decide whether to repair the defective service or decline due to misuse. In such cases, IKEA will be responsible for the repair costs, additional parts, labor and travel expenses incurred by the IKEA staff if the product is repairable without IKEA incurring extraordinary expenses to access it. This does not apply to cases where the repair has not been authorized by IKEA. Any defective parts removed during the repair will become property of IKEA in the event the customer is not interested in the part. In the event that the item is no longer being sold by IKEA or the product has been discontinued, IKEA will provide a replacement of equal value or features. You can request specific documentation for discontinued items at Customer Service.

Guarantee conditions

Guarantees are valid from the moment the kitchen installation or furniture assembly service is completed. The invoice, either printed or digital, must be shown as proof of purchase and identification of the holder. In the event of guarantee redemption (first time and consecutives), its term does not lead to renewal, and the remaining term will be honored retroactively to the date indicated in the purchase invoice.
In the case of resale or third party buyers, the guarantee period that comes with the good does not renew, the remaining period will be honored, retroactive to the date indicated on the purchase invoice of the first consumer or buyer.

Exceptions

Follow the care instructions carefully. Guarantees do not apply to products that have been improperly stored either by an unauthorized service provider or by the customer or in cases where storage has not been performed by IKEA, the product has been used improperly, abused, altered, or cleaned with unsuitable methods or products. Guarantees do not cover natural wear and tear, moisture, cuts, scrapes or scratches, or any damage caused by impact, shock or accident.

In order to benefit from these guarantees, you must follow the specific maintenance, use, care and cleaning instructions of each product.
